The Arduino socket strips are okay for attaching components, but sometimes, when putting together a quick prototype it would be useful to be able to have something more substantial – like a screw terminal.
These shield boards provide just such a feature.
The Arduino Screw Shield is the ultimate breakout board for an Arduino. It combines a prototyping shield with a full set of 3.5mm screw terminal blocks. The screwshield part lets you build custom circuitry and then you can easily & securely connect wires and sensors to the terminal blocks. Great for panel mounts, buttons, sensors, enclosures etc.
The shield even comes with stacking headers, which let you plug another shield on top! Here, a L293D Breakout is stacked with the Arduino-screwshield.
The next generation Arduino-Screwshield is a dual-purpose prototyping shield. Not only does it have a large 0.1″ grid prototyping area but it also extends the Arduino pins to sturdy, secure, and dependable screw terminal blocks. You even get a few bonus terminals for extra GND and four ‘free’ terminals for whatever connections you wish! – It now works much better with R3 UNO’s, Mega, Leonardo, as well as stacking nicely with any shield.
The stack-able wing design allows you slip this under any shield and still get easy access to the “analog” & “digital” ports of the Arduino. The Screwshield can be stacked above or below pretty much every other shield.
