A two-day Scilab Training Course was conducted for the students and faculties at the Swarna Bharathi Institute of Science and Technology, Khammam. Mr. UmashankarShetty & Mr. Sathurappan were the trainers from Tenet Technetronics.This workshop was organized by theDepartment of Electronics and Communication Engineering (SBIT, Khammam) in association with Tenet Technetronics on 30th September and 1st October, 2015.Department of ECE is the key for the very successful development of this workshop.
The main objective of this workshop was to extensively train students and institutional representatives, so that these individuals would have the knowledge to promote Scilab and educate the users at their respective organizations. Secondary objectives were to instruct the participants about Scilab and advantages of Scilab over commercial tools.
The participants were a mix of students from different colleges with different stream – ECE, CSE and ITE. The majority was from the UG particularly the students of SBIT, Khammam. Participants included the professors and several senior lecturers.
The training was started with Introduction to Scilab, Pros and cons of Scilab, Installation procedure, the environment of Scilab and few basic examples of Like matrices, plots, Scicos, etc…Later on it went to the main theme of the workshop i.e. Signals &Systems; here it started with Introduction to the topic, classifications, operations and few examples on the same using Scilab.
On the next day of the workshop our trainers started their day on analysis & synthesis of the signals by providing examples on Fourier series, Fourier transforms, DTFS, DTFT & Sampling with the case studies of each examples over a Scilab. Later the program continued with the analysis & characterization on Systems with the examples of time domain analysis, Laplace transforms, z transforms and relationship between s-plane and z-plane.
It was a very much interactive workshop, the students at SBIT, Khammamwere exited in learning new terms, terminologies and concepts;the training session went in a smooth manner with lot of knowledge sharing terms. The interaction with the students was so good and college members were so co-operative. The day concluded with application of signal processing on communication.
