This week we are launching a new product “Sound Sensor” designed by Tenet Technetronics. This Sound Sensor Breakout is used to detect the strength of sound. It is based on the power amplifier LM386 to amplify the sound signal and the electret microphone; it can be used to detect the sound strength of the environment. The most enhancing feature of this product is the value of the output can be adjusted by the potentiometer. We can vary the gain from 20 to 200 i.e. 26db to 46db. We use the LM386 as the Core of the sound sensor where LM386 is Core versatile amplifier used for Sound applications. It can be used for many applications like detecting noise in the environment, detecting sound strength of music and since it is analog output we can control various things based on the sound received by the Sound Sensor.
This board is useful in making projects where sound activation features are required like Security Camera which takes pictures upon sound activity. You can also make a robot which moves when it hears a sound and stops on detecting silence. Although this board is not intelligent to separate different sounds this is a low cost alternative for sound controlling applications.
