Yet again we have a news to share and this time around its something surprising ! This product alliance is a clear indication on how customer support and interaction could give us more insight into what customers need and what should Tenet Technetronics do to satisfy them.
Now here is the story, A computer science faculty at one of the colleges during our visits started enquiring us if there was a way to be able to create some way of learning where in students learnt the programming aspects with some fun rather than bringing up a boring console window to see the output of all the hundreds of lines. Now that was a use case that was a challenge ahead to be able to see what we could do !
Our Application Engineers and Technical Evangelists spent a lot of time brainstorming as well as finding the right solution that would fit this requirement. After a month long search , we ended up stumbling across the company named BirdBrain Technologies LLC . Tom Lauwers happens to be the founder of this company and a doctrol student in the past from Carnegei mellon robotic institute’s CREATE lab.
What is a Finch Robot ?
The Finch is a new robot for computer science education. Its design is the result of a four year study at Carnegie Mellon’s CREATE lab.
The Finch was designed to allow students to write richly interactive programs. On-board features include:
- Light, temperature, and obstacle sensors
- Accelerometers
- Motors
- Buzzer
- Full-color beak LED
- Pen mount for drawing capability
- Plugs into USB port – no batteries required
The Finch is currently programmable with Java, Python, C++, Visual Basic, Processing, MATLAB, and Scala. Additional language support will be released throughout 2012.
We are accepting pre-orders for the finch robots on email requests and we are working in full swing to bring the finch robots for online sales very soon.
