One of the exciting things about our workshops is that we not only get to meet enthusiastic students but also carry the technological products to the rural masses and get them up an running on the latest of the open source tools.
This time around we picked up the Universal college of Engineering located " close to " (may be) ahmedabad. This is a college situated far from city and even any access to even an electronic store. A student group there was interested in learning how Arduino could be used for their engineering school project and then our educational department digged in deep to find out what were the other students up to and how are they planning to execute their projects. It turned out that none of them had any plans nor the practical exposure to build projects. Now this was a good problem to solve and we decided to host a workshop at this college. We had very less interest among the students as they felt it would be difficult , may be tough ..etc for them to be able to understand stuffs in a 2 day program and we hardly found any registrations in the first few days.
Now comes the real twist in the tale , The student in charge took the effort to build a simple demo on how easy was it to get started on the arduino and had the students see it for themselves and then we saw a real bump in the registration and surprisingly we got the whole class in for the event ! Thanks Mr Bhadresh for taking this effort !
It was a hard journey for our Application engineers to travel all the way on a 2 day train to reach the location and it was all worth it seeing the enthusiam that they showed.
It was also the first time we had a course that was being translated from english to gujrathi that is the regional language and this was an amazing experience.
Here is an excerpt of the video that captures the whole event ! This gives an insight into the way we enjoy work as well !
This time around it was not only the Arduino but also we had a half a day introduction seesion focused on the MSP microcontroller with the popular TI launchpad !
We would be more than happy to bring such an event to your college as well ! If you are interested and want to know more , please feel free to drop us an email at info@tenettech.com
