We recently got some of the TI launchpad’s to play around !
Its an amazing tool priced very low and would definitely make an impact in the opensource as well as DIY community !
The tool comes complete with two microcontrollers , an on board emulator, lot of resources online to get started and also at an approximate price around 500INR in India.
We were pretty excited by the pricing and bought a few of them for our webshop and we are also making a video to showcase some of the demonstations !
There are some hick ups though for arduino users !
- The libraries are not that simple to use , there are hardly few (no) ready libraries as in arduino to get started.
- No easy tool like the arduino IDE…etc
But nevertheless the community for launchpad is growing at an alarming rate and we should soon see some of them delivering good open tools both on hardware and software front to enable easy and quick implementation using these tiny little boards !
We do have plans to take up launchpads seriously and we are planning to deliver a workshop as well as some demos and “how to ” guides for the launchpad !
